What is Coronavirus?
Coronavirus is a fatal virus that causes diseases in mammals and birds. It is typically transmitted from infected animals till now it is said that this COVID-19 is much similar to the SARS- coronavirus which is a virus spread from Bat. Moreover, it is a communicable disease which easily spreads from one human to others.
In humans, it affects the respiratory system and causes some common infections like a common cold, running nose, sneezing, dry cough, fever etc. Once upon a time, all these symptoms were a 2-3 days infection which gets recovered quickly and easily.
What are the common characteristics of Coronavirus?
There are four main ranks of coronaviruses: alpha, beta, delta, and gamma. Most of these ranks of viruses’ only affect animals, but a few can transmit to humans. Out of these four, only two are contagious to humans: alpha, beta
When did the Coronavirus global outbreaks begin?
Before coronavirus, only two viruses have outbreak globally so far. The first virus was SARS coronavirus and the second one was MERS coronavirus.
SARS coronavirus- It is held for the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), which first broke down in China in 2002. This virus mostly influenced the population of china’s & Hong Kong’s mainland. This virus finally ended in 2003. It affected approximately 8,000 people back then.
MERS coronavirus- It is responsible for the Middle East respiratory syndrome, which first started spreading in Saudi Arabia in 2012. It affected approximately 2,494 people back then.
When was Coronavirus Discovered?
It is said that coronaviruses were first discovered in 1960. The first one’s detected was an infectious bronchitis virus in chickens & two inhuman with symptoms like a common cold, which was later named as a human coronavirus (human coronavirus 229E and human coronavirus OC43). Other genres (rank) of this virus includes SARS-CoV 2003, HCoV NL63 in 2004, HKU1 in 2005, MERS-CoV in 2012, and SARS-CoV-2 (earlier known as 2019-nCoV or COVID-19) in 2019. Nearly, many of these have involved severe respiratory tract infections.
How coronavirus gets transmitted?
Whilst the virus is likely to get transmitted via animals, the transmission of the new coronavirus i.e, COVID-19 can occur from one person to another, however, the virus transmission parameters still remain unanswered.
Acc. to WHO spokesperson reverts to MNT queries,” researchers are quietly studying the exact specifications of human-to-human transmission.”
In Wuhan initially, during the outbreak, some people got sick from the exposure to a source, probably an animal hoisting a disease.
“While with other coronaviruses, the transmission is via the respiratory route, in context the virus remains in the airways (nose and lungs) & can pass to another person through droplets from their mouth or nose, for eg. We still require further analysis of the epidemiological data to know the full extent of this transmission & how people are infected.”
What are the symptoms of coronavirus?
As per the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), the main symptoms of coronavirus aka COVID-19 are fever, dry cough, and shortness of breath.
As per the present information via WHO it suggests that the virus can cause mild, flu-like symptoms, and more severe diseases like pneumonia, respiratory failure, and in few cases death.
Observation and recommendation
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is a quickly transmutable virus which spreads like fire if timely precautions are not taken. The government and doctors are doing a very tough job for us. Please listen to them carefully and follow the rules to fight against this disease.
